New Lens, New Outlook

Finally found time to test drive the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX IF HSM lens. A feature review will appear in the February issue of Zoom Street, so be sure to check it out. For now, you can view a few shots at this link

My first impressions can be summed up in two words: fast, sharp.

Nikon doesn’t have a lens in this range right now, and Sigma has priced theirs just right. Street price around $1000. That’s not cheap, I realize, but for a telephoto this good you’d expect to pay about $3500. We’re talking some serious glass here, gang.

I’m a bit behind schedule with the move to Marin County, but you can expect more soon.
